DECHOVÁ HUDBA BLASKAPELLE BRASS BAND

In 1973, the conductor Václav Kafka and bandleader Stanislav Bílek brought the band back into České Budějovice for the next competition for The Zlatá křídlovka, but the role of favourite tied up too much and biased evaluations - today well known reasons - caused that the band did not placed first. Nevertheless, there were many requirements for performance of the brass band in different parts of our country, and even Czech Radio broadcast showed interest. On May 19th, 1974 Bojané appeared on Czech Television in TV show "Muziky, muziky" and gained a great popularity. The first LP "Hrajte nám Bojané" was released by music editorship Panton. After these successes the band recorded another LPs while cooperating with Czech TV and Radio. Under the leadership of Jaroslav Račický in 1980, Bojané also performed in the former Deutsche Demokratik Republik in a popular show "Ein Kessel Buntes" next to our popular artists. In 1982, due to family and work reasons Jaroslav Račický resigned on his function. The band's musicians elected in one voice the trumpet player Josef Esterka as a new bandleader. Artistic director and conductor became Rudolf Zavadil, the professor of the Brno Conservatory, who was succeeded in 1987 by conductor Jiří Volf. Between the years 1990 and 2001 the brass band Bojané was led by Štepán Esterka in cooperation with conductor Jiří Volf. As time went on, many musicians, singers e.g. Jožka Severin, popular entertainers and conferenciers e.g. Marie Nováková, Jan Komosný, Jan Herka etc. changed during that time. Since 2001 the current bandleader has been Stanislav Esterka, who in 2002 under the baton of his professor Jan Slabák brought the brass band Bojané back to the competition for the Zlatá křídlovka, held in Hodonín as an international competition. Bojané were awarded by the 1st place and were titled as "Absolute Champion". Numerous performances at folklore festivals, e.g. Ratíškovice, Tvrdonice etc. but also in abroad e.g. Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Slovak Republic, Belgium, Italy, Poland, France contributed to popularity of brass band Bojané. The brass band Bojané produced many Long-playing albums or Compact Discs. These LPs and CDs offer the traditional style of brass band, which is coming from region rich for folk creativity. And from this folk creativity gathers its repertoire that enhances by beautiful polkas or waltzes from authors for the time being as well. Since the time of foundation in 1959 Bojané covered much ground. During such a time they always tried to give to theirs audience nice song that is also today's motto of brass band with its soloists Anna Řezáčová, Pavla Hranická, Vojtěch Račický, conferencier Karel Kopřiva and bandleader Stanislav Esterka. To thank all the musicians, soloists and conductors who ever performed with the band Bojané was released CD "Unforgettable live songs and melodies recorded between 1977-1997". This CD reflects the 50th Anniversary as well.

The chance of brass band establishment in Dolní Bojanovice came along with beginning of a music course, which was founded by teacher Pavel Janeček in the school year 1958/59. Thanks to great effort of folk music enthusiasts, there was organized the Region brass band competition in 1970, where our band won 1st place under the baton of teacher Pavel Janeček. The journey for a nationwide competition for the Zlatá křídlovka in České Budějovice was open. A new conductor Václav Kafka and bandleader Michael Komosný started to prepare the band for this competition. The official name of the brass band was "Podlužácká dechovka from Dolní Bojanovice". The band took home third-place honor. First were Amatti Kraslice and second BUDVARKA from České Budějovice. As the region Podluží is a broad and wide term, the band decided on a new, more fitting name - Bojané. Young musicians have chosen the name according to historical records of our village, going back to 1196. At the time the settlement of Dolní Bojanovice belonged to the Hradišťský Monastery by Olomouc; the Duke Vladimir from Olomouc donated the settlement to the Monastery. In later years the property of the settlement Dolní Bojanovice was transferred to aristocratic family, which was called "Lords of Bojanovice" and also "Lords from Bojanova". And hence comes the present name of the band - Bojané. However, knight's heraldry of original Bojané was not maintained.
